The watch world lately has been run on whichever luxury player has the hottest and most novel collaboration, which ultimately dies out in a relatively short span of time.
Casio doesn't really rest its laurels on latching on to trends since its time-tested models are still among the most popular and most sold watches worldwide because of their undeniable cultural significance and value.
The Japanese watchmaker's whole ethos is that you don't always need to sell your kidney to get classy and versatile timepieces that will last you lifetimes. The new A140 is a reinvention of the classic F-91W and the A158WA-1 but dials up that vintage flair via a softly curved case and a stunning dial.

The hot new drop follows the Casio school of thought involving providing staples that can be worn on anyone's wrist. The A140 still evokes a lot of the F-91W's simplistic charm that doesn't try to bend over backwards and try to be something it's not.
The new piece is reminiscent of a lot of the prototypical digital quartz pieces of the late 1980s and the early 1990s, as it bears a sleeker, rounded-out look. Think of the many sportier watches from the era, as the A140 is also part of the "Vintage" line that blends classic nostalgia with modern durability.
The watch has a sunray finish on its dial; a lot of other watches that aim for striking exteriors vary slightly based on the light that hits them.
You also have to pay quite a bit more for the gold colorway that will run you P8,510 via Casio's website, compared to the standard steel colorways that go for P5,990.
It is almost a consensus that the "God-tier" brand will always hold a soft spot in any watch collector or even any man's nightstand. And with smaller and sleeker watches being the meta right now, Casio continues to nail its latest releases. In case you missed it, Casio had also come out with its very first automatic watch in the Edifice EFK series and another reason to get the younger generation back into wearing timepieces.
Whether you've been rocking the legendary F-91W for decades now or even a watch-wearing neophyte, the latest A140 could be a signal from Casio that it ain't going anywhere.
