This Timeless Casio Watch Should Be Your Next Wardrobe Staple
The Casio F-91W is a watch that youāve probably seen in a bunch of movies and TV shows, but make no mistake, this could be your next daily driver timepiece to show people you mean business while still keeping a laidback demeanor.
This digital piece has been on the wrists of world leaders like former US President Barack Obama, Hollywood A-listers such as Ryan Reynolds, and even on the notorious Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.
The Casio staple, which usually only goes for P1,200, is often seen as a piece that can go with any outfit, occasion, and season.
Throughout the 1980s and the 90s, the F-91W captured mass appeal through its more casual and durable plastic resin, simple digital numeric display, and a user-friendly calendar function. The F-91W was considered a gamechanger jam-packed with features and ridiculous value while being relatively affordable.
The simplicity of its design screams bang-for-your-buck deal that brings both a retro and timeless flair that modern smartwatches are finding it difficult to emulate.
The digital timepiece has stood the test of time and aged like fine wine as many discerning horologists or those first getting into watches have favored it for a multitude of looks.
Casio supposedly makes and sells an estimated three million F-91Ws each year and at one point was the most sold watch in the world.

How Casio Got Into Watches
Casio started out as a modest computer company founded as Kashio Seisakujo in the 1940s with its operations based in Shibuya. The entity as we know it today became the Casio Computer Company (an English translation of the original Japanese name) in 1957 after it launched the legendary model 14-A It primarily focused on manufacturing electronic calculators to replace manual adding machines that were still commonly used at the time.
The company released its first wristwatch, the Casiotron, in 1974, as watches started to transition into more quartz-based digital form factors from the traditional movement wound automatic timepieces.
While the F-91W shares a resemblance to its successor, the Casio G-Shock, the more compact design has spawned variants including the F-91W Digital Sport Watch and the F-91W Illuminator. These feature slimmer rectangular resin glass cases and slightly larger LCD displays, respectively.
Another prototypical Casio piece that shares the same universal respect is the Casio CA53W calculator data bank watch, which has been worn by iconic pop culture and fictional characters such as Marty Mcfly in the Back To The Future film series and Walter White in the TV showĀ Breaking Bad.
