Looking to Switch to an EV? The Zeekr X Might Just be What You Seek
The Zeekr X is a tech-forward EV that all but makes range anxiety a thing of the past.

According to data from Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), a total of 32,489 electric vehicles (EVs) were sold in the Philippines in 2025, accounting for 7.01 percent market share. When you include other available industry data (automakers that are not members of CAMPI or TMA), that number goes up to 58,905 units, which reflect a 12 percent share of the total automobile in the country.
Comparing the data from 2024, combined battery, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid EV sales grew a whopping 142.5 percent year-oo-year. Chinese brand BYD alone sold 26,122 units last year, which is 446 percent more than what it had sold in 2024.
All this is to say that there’s no stopping the march towards the electrified future for automobiles here and elsewhere in the world. This is the reason there has not been a shortage of new energy vehicles that have entered the PH market looking to get a slice of the pie.

One of those brands is Zeekr, a premium Chinese EV under the Geely Group. Introduced in the Philippines in 2024, Zeekr currently has four models available in the Philippines: the Zeekr 001, Zeekr 009 (luxury MPV), the Zeekr 7X (SUV), and the Zeekr X (crossover).
The Autohub Group, which is the exclusive distributor of the Zeekr brand in the Philippines, lent me the Zeekr X for one weekend and here are some thoughts.

Zeekr X drive
The Zeekr X unit arrived at my house with about a 65-percent charge. Initially I was concerned because I had planned on driving it up to Tagaytay for the weekend, but I was told not to worry. According to the instrument panel, that much charge could still take me up to 320 kilometers, which was more than enough for a drive down to the popular Cavite town.
Like other high-tech EVs I’ve had the pleasure of driving, the Zeekr X doesn’t have a traditional On-Off switch: the car turns on automatically when it senses the key inside. Slide behind the wheel, shift the gear selector to Drive and you’re ready to go. And when you’re done, push the Park switch, and just exit the vehicle.

There’s a large, portrait-oriented touchscreen on the dashboard, with a responsive and easy-to-use interface. Everything is there: navigation, multimedia, climate control, and other vehicle controls. There’s even ambient lighting, and a “relax function” that automatically adjusts the seats when you want to chill inside the car, while waiting for your companion, for example. The ride itself was smooth, there was ample power when you needed, and there’s also Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-keeping assist, and other safety features.
A digital instrument cluster directly in front of the driver provided real-time information on battery levels, speed, and predictive range. What’s more interesting is how that range projection adapts intelligently to your driving style, terrain, and energy use. While I started with real range anxiety, having that information allowed me to let go knowing I wouldn’t suddenly be left powerless on the side of the road.

From BGC where the car came from to Tagaytay and around the city for a couple of days, and then back to my house in Carmona, Cavite, the 65 percent charge went down to around 30 percent by the end of the weekend. When the Zeekr guys said they would need to push the pick-up of the test unit a couple of days later, I was still able to use the unit to drive to the office in Mandaluyong and then back home, an additional distance of about 70 kilometers. By the time I parked the car that day, there was still around 13 percent charge left.
While this wasn’t my first time driving a full electric vehicle, it was good to experience how much EVs have improved and progressed in just a few short years. The Zeekr X, in particular, provided all the high-tech features of a solid, dependable EV without making it too cumbersome and complicated. On the contrary, it made driving an EV simple and easy. It may not be a major player yet in the EV wars, but Zeekr proved it had every right to grab people’s attention, especially those looking to make that transition to EVs for their mobility needs.
