From Harry's House to House Music: Harry Styles Grooves in New Song "Aperture"

He's back. Harry Styles has given us a taste of what's to come creatively after three long years of a drought of new music. The superstar has been living in Berlin for much of his self-imposed hiatus, smashing marathons in Europe and Japan, sporting radically changing hairstyles and facial hair.

The Grammy-award winning musician and the One Direction alum's last record Harry's House (2022) was a carefree and enjoyable album that spawned massive hits like "As It Was" and "Daylight." The LP snagged Album of the Year, Pop Vocal Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical despite being pit against modern classics such as Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers and Beyoncé's Renaissance.

Now, we have "Aperture" off his forthcoming album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, and oh boy does it fit the expected dance music aesthetic Harry's seemingly leaning into. Styles is really putting the house music in Harry's House now, with hues of LCD Soundsystem, the 1975's stuff from Notes on a Conditional Form, and some of the new stuff from Tame Impala.

While not a full-blown H&M changing room type of background wallpaper/techno track, "Aperture" is a type of track that you need a couple of listens to let it grow on you and to take in all of the layers within the production.

The hook that goes "We belong together" in the track was first shown in the piano ballad "Forever, Forever" video that was used to tease new music from the Brit and could not prepare us for this dance hall/club music artists like Charli XCX have brought back into the mainstream consciousness.

I guess spending that much time in Berlin could have also shaped his proclivity for Euro beats and the vibrant German EDM scene.

Along with the new groovy techno track, Styles also announced his 2026 Together, Together tour with stops in Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, New York City, Melbourne, and Sydney.

"Aperture" is a compelling, carefree stylistic shift for the Englishman which we hope could lead to more ambitious and bold musical statements in his forthcoming project.
