Dear Evan Hansen: A Story That Resonates Across Generations
Dear Evan Hansen follows the journey of Evan, a socially anxious high school student struggling to find his place in the world. When a misunderstanding escalates beyond his control, he is faced with a difficult choice: come clean and risk losing everything or embrace a lie that offers him the connection he’s always longed for. As Evan navigates the complexities of truth, belonging, and self-acceptance, the show delivers a heartfelt exploration of modern identity and mental health.
Produced by ATG Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Nottingham Playhouse, the UK tour of Dear Evan Hansen brings the show’s award-winning creative team to Manila. With music by the Emmy, Grammy, Tony, and Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson, the musical has received widespread acclaim, winning four Tony Awards—including Best Musical, the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Director Adam Penford shares his excitement about bringing the show to new audiences: "Dear Evan Hansen has thrilled audiences on both sides of the Atlantic since it first premiered in 2016. Evan's powerful story grips and moves people told through a captivating script and musical score. This exciting UK and International tour production offers the opportunity to reexamine some of its contemporary themes and present this brand-new version to more people."
