Maya Hawke has a bright future ahead of her, especially now that critics are praising her breakout role as Robin in Stranger Things 3. But no one is prouder than her A-lister parents Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. In Stranger Things 3, Maya plays Robin, the badass chick who outnerds Gaten Matarazzo’s character, Dustin Henderson.

On his Instagram feed, Ethan Hawke raved about his daughter:

“Some of you may have missed her in last year’s BBC production of Little Women. Some of you may have missed her work at Juilliard. I know many missed out on numerous high school productions—heck, I even missed a few, and I’m her father. Some of you may know her music, some may not. But ladies and gentleman, get to know Maya Hawke. She’s the real thing.”

Maya says her parents have always been there for her even before she decided to act. “My parents are wonderful and really supportive and have given me a lot. I feel really grateful to have their support. They both love the show (Stranger Things), and loved it before I was on it, so it’s fun,” said Maya in an interview with Access.

Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke Also Dished Out Constructive Criticism to Maya

Parents Thurman and Hawke are quite honest with Maya when it comes to her professional career as an actor. They’re not all praises all the time, which is why when they praised her for her role in Stranger Things 3, you know it’s authentic.

“My parents don’t B.S. me,” says Maya, who recently celebrated her 21st birthday. “They’re pretty rigorous in terms of their commentary... when they like something or don’t.”

Maya made her screen debut as an actor on the BBC adaptation of Little Women, which came out in 2017.
