If you've been catching plays and musicals these past few months, then you know that 2024 is possibly the busiest theater season in the Philippines post-pandemic. Back-to-back shows opened in the second quarter, including Miss Saigon, One More Chance, and Rent. But the second half is looking a bit more exciting as Barefoot Theatre Collaborative announced a restaging of Mula sa Buwan. It runs from August 16 to September 8, 2024, at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Circuit Makati.

Mula sa Buwan by Pat Valera and William Elvin Manzano started as an experimental play in December 2010 before it became a bigger musical in December 2016. It later had reruns in February 2017 and November 2018, a one-night-only musical concert in October 2019, an online streaming of a few scenes in April 2021, and a playback of the musical concert's highlights in May 2021. They staged two post-pandemic reruns in August and December 2022, both of which were produced by Barefoot Theatre Collaborative as the young theater company's debut.

Fresh from their Bar Boys: A New Musical run, which is also by Barefoot, are Omar Uddin as Maestro and Jerom Canlas as Tato. Brian Sy as Maximo joins the Mula sa Buwan newcomers.

Also joining the cast as members of the ensemble are Ade Valenzona, Daniel Wesley, Jannah Baniasia, Cheska Quimno, Dippy Arceo, Iya Villanueva, and Jules Dela Paz. Paw Castillo serves as standby for Cyrano, Teetin Villanueva for Roxane and the female swing, and Rofe Villarino as the male swing.

Mula sa Buwan is based on Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac and Francisco "Soc" Rodrigo's Filipino translation of the French classic. The production is set in 1940s Manila, where Cyrano is an artist sent to war, and Roxane is a blushing colegiala. Christian, the lead's best friend, falls in love with the beautiful damsel.
