Chicken Inasal Has Been Recognized As One of the Best Chicken Dishes in the World
Inasal na manok is one of those dishes that have garnered quite a following over the years. It's not just that it's some proud Visayan product. There's a case to be made that it's the chicken dish of the region. Heck, Inasal has even named an important cultural property in Bacolod City. It's that influential.
And it has gone global, too. Just ask users on the TasteAtlas website. Recently, the platform published its list of the 50 best-rated chicken dishes in the world. Browse through the list and, would you look at that? Our very own chicken inasal was recognized by foodies and critics alike. They would give it a cool 4.5 stars out of 5. Not too bad. We may remember a year ago that inasal made the top five on their October list.

TasteAtlas said of inasal: “[Inasal na manok is] a unique Filipino grilled chicken dish which originated in Bacolod and became the signature dish of the entire Visayas region. It employs various chicken cuts marinated in a mixture of vinegar and numerous spices such as lemongrass, garlic, and ginger.”
It added: “During grilling, the meat is brushed with the annatto-infused oil which provides the chicken with an appetizing golden color and a unique peppery flavor. The dish is usually served alongside annatto-flavored garlic rice and spiced vinegar."
The atlas also gave a shoutout to inasal's roots in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Here, it mentioned some of the most famous inasal branches in the region, like Aida’s Manokan, Nena’s Beth, and of course Manokan Country.
Meanwhile, Iranian dish Jujeh Kabab, a traditional charcoal grilled chicken flavored with saffron, earned the top ranking with a 4.8 stars. It is followed by Dak Galbi from Korea and Murgh makhani and Tikka from India on the rankings.
