Which New Villain Is Emo Batman Going to Face in The Batman Part II?

Robert Pattinson's brooding edgelord emo Batman will be back (probably with some more vengeance). Director Matt Reeves, too, is set to return, as confirmed by James Gunn, Peter Safran, and the rest of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) overlords. The Batman Part II sounds bonkers already, given all the information we know now. Even more bonkers are the possible names attached to Batman's rival in the sequel.
Pattinson, who once said that he was taking a sabbatical from franchises after The Twilight Saga, made an exception for the DCEU. “I’ve talked to Matt about the idea of doing a trilogy. I know it would be wonderful. I really, really enjoyed the process, and it’s such a fun character to play," he told Fandango in February 2022. "Yeah, that’d be lovely.”
In March of that same year, he said that he expected the storyline to tackle the Court of Owls from the comic books. The Court of Owls is made up of Gotham's wealthiest and most powerful families, who basically control Gotham from the shadows. This should be interesting, considering that that Reeves' original Batman went into the politics of Gotham.

Will Reeves go in this direction? The filmmaker, who had previously known for The War for the Planet of the Apes, has Peter Craig helping him for the script. They have a healthy option of villains here.
Reeves has also stated in the past that he could see Dr. Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze appearing in the sequel. That should be cool, too. We saw Mr. Freeze, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in Joel Schumacher's 1997 superhero film Batman & Robin as their main adversary.
Colin Farrell, for instance, might just return as The Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot. However, we do have to wait out what happens to his character in the HBO spinoff series. It would be cool to see Reeves and Craig give us more of Farrell, after all.
How about Catwoman, aka Zoe Kravitz? They are sort of love interests here, but we can see an alternate story where they're pitted against each other. The thing is though, Kravitz hasn't exactly confirmed her return to the franchise. That's something to watch out for.
Of course, there's always The Joker. At the very end of the first Batman, we saw a glimpse of Farrell's Banshees of Inisherin costar Barry Keoghan in the Arkham Asylum. He may be behind bars but come on. There's always that possibility that he escapes. Plus, Keoghan is an Oscar nominee now. Imagine the back-and-forth with Pattinson.
The Batman Part II will hit theaters in October 2025.
