Constantine's Sequel Is Happening Despite DC Overhaul, But Details Are Still Murky
Just a few years ago, news of Constantine 2 hit the airwaves, sending fans into a riot. Then DC happened. As a part of the DC Universe, Constantine could be subjected to massive changes and rewrites by DC Studios’ endeavor to streamline its stories and IPs. After the DCEU announced its overhaul, the fate of Keanu Reeves’ Constantine was left up in the air. Until now.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Constantine 2 will not be thrown into the proverbial dumpster by the new gods of the DC Universe. While Constantine 2 won’t be part of the DC’s main storyline, it will likely be considered a part of Elseworlds, a collection of DC stories that exist as standalone movies unconnected to the main DCU plot.

Constantine 2 was one of the few titles not mentioned in James Gun and Peter Safran’s 10-year DC masterplan, which will begin with its initial phase, Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, sometime in 2025. While it wasn’t mentioned, that doesn’t mean that it won’t be part of the Elseworlds future lineup.
Constantine is too important to exclude from the DCU altogether, so don’t fret. Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as John Constantine and director Francis Lawrence will return to direct the sequel.
Even the DC gods can’t kill this hellraiser.
