Filipino Actress Dolly de Leon Bags Golden Globe Nomination

Filipino actress Dolly de Leon bagged another major nomination, this time from the Golden Globes 2023. De Leon is nominated for “Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture” for her role as the cleaner Abigail in Triangle of Sadness.

De Leon, the only Asian nominated in her category, is up against Angela Basset for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Kerry Condon for The Banshees of Inisherin, Jamie Lee Curtis for Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Carey Mulligan for She Said.

De Leon is believed to be the first Filipino performer to ever nab a nomination in the acting categories of the Golden Globes.

Ruben Ostland’s Triangle of Sadness is also up for Best Picture in the Musical/Comedy category alongside Babylon, The Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The 80th Annual Golden Globes 2023 will take place on January 2023.

Prior to bagging a Golden Globe nomination, De Leon also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 2023 Satellite Awards. Just hours before her Golden Globe nomination announcement, the actress won Best Supporting Performance at Los Angeles Film Critics Awards 2022.
