See How the GomBurZa Cast Resembles Their Real-Life Counterparts
GomBurZa is a historical film—one that invites audiences into the tumultuous era of Filipino revolutionaries and their unwavering pursuit of change. Through vivid cinematography and evocative storytelling, the film captures the spirit of the three Filipino priests—Mariano Gómez, José Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora—who challenged the status quo during the Spanish colonial period.
Actors like Enchong Dee portraying Jacinto Zamora, and Piolo Pascual as Pedro Pelaez, not only embody the essence of these historical figures but also mirror their appearances astonishingly well. It was all intentional for director Pepe Diokno. "For a lot of the cast, yung resemblance nila sa role [was important]," Diokno says. "Nung nakita namin yung picture ni father Pelaez sa totoong buhay, sabi ko, 'This is Piolo.' Kamukhang-kamukha."
