House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 10 is finally out… on HBO GO. But days beforehand, the episode had already leaked on countless torrent sites. We’d bet it caused a riot at HBO, and someone is definitely getting fired.

The leak was so widespread that HBO was forced to issue a statement on the matter:

“We are aware that the tenth episode of ‘House of the Dragon’ has been posted on illegal torrent sites. It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region. HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet. We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”

The culprit was identified: one of HBO’s distribution partners in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region was responsible for the leak. After 10 years of Game of Thrones, HBO is still fighting the threat of notorious leaks. It’s become such an issue that screeners for huge shows like House of the Dragon are almost impossible to come by for journalists.

Regardless, the episode is already out of HBO GO, and if the ratings on the streaming platforms—and the torrent sites—are anything to go by, HOTD is one of the most popular shows of the year.

So at least that’s some good news, right?
