Jack Nicholson has reportedly retired from Hollywood

Jack Nicholson has retired from Hollywood after a 60-year-long career, according to former co-star Peter Fonda.

The 79-year-old three-time Oscar-winner—who's made 66 movies and has a record-holding 12 Academy Award-nominations—has been enjoying the quieter life despite his long-held hell-raising reputation.

"I think he is ­basically retired," Fonda—who starred in Nicholson's Easy Rider in 1969 - told The Sun. "I don't want to speak for him but he has done a lot of work and he has done very well as a person financially.

"Sometimes ­people have a reason that you don't know, and it's not for me to ask. I don't call him up and say, 'Johnny,' I call him Johnny Hop, 'What are you doing?'

"I would say, 'How are you, how do you feel?'"

In 2013, the Shining star—whose last film to date is 2010's comedy drama How Do You Know—denied claims he had given up acting due to "memory loss", telling The Sun that he was "in good shape—a little stout, but healthy" and has "a mathematician's brain."

A few years later during an interview with U.S. magazine Closer, he admitted that he was slowing down and lamented at being too old to hit on women publicly*.

"I'm definitely still wild at heart, but I've struck biogravity," he told the publication. "I can't hit on women in public anymore. I didn't decide this; it just doesn't feel right at my age."

*But he gave it a damn good go back in 2013...
