Is Jason Momoa Staying With the DCEU After All?

While James Gunn is still figuring out the future of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), former Aquaman and all-around badass Jason Momoa looks like he isn't done with the franchise just yet.

Momoa, together with the likes of Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and even Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, were part of Gunn's great DCEU cleanup drive. Nevertheless, later this year, he is slated to appear again as Arthur Curry in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but it is said to be his last as Aquaman. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Momoa had previously voiced out his disagreements with some DC film executives.

But rumors of the star's future involvement with the next chapter with Warner Bros. persist. He even added fire to the flames with his latest comments at the Variety Studio. “It’s very, very wonderful. I’m in the house of Warner Bros. and they are liking a lot of stuff I’m doing. We got a lot of good things coming," he noted.

These days, the star is promoting his newest film at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, the ocean documentary Deep Rising. He said he recently met with new DC Studio heads Gunn and Peter Safran, as well. Although the exact details of that meeting are still unknown.

When asked if he was going to play the bounty hunter alien Lobo, a DC fan favorite, he simply said: "I’ll always be Aquaman... ain’t anyone coming in there and taking shit. There might be some other characters, too. I can play other things, too. I can be funny, savage and charming once in a while."

What are the chances we see Momoa as Lobo? We never know. It's been long speculated that Gunn would make his DCEU debut with the Lobo movie. That, however, has been scrapped by Warner Bros. Discovery and DC, at least for now.
