On the Job: The Missing 8 Makes It to the 78th Venice International Film Festival

Erik Matti's On the Job: The Missing 8 has been selected for competition in the 78th Venice International Film Festival. The film festival's lineup was announced by Venice Biennale president Roberto Cicutto and artistic director Alberto Barbera.

On the Job: The Missing 8 is a sequel to Matti's award-winning On the Job. The sequel stars John Arcilla and Dennis Trillo, and tells the story of a journalist who investigates the death of his colleagues while tackling corruption and media censorship in the Philippines.

The full cast includes Lotlot de Leon, Ricky Davao, William Martinez, Dante Rivero, Vandolph Quizon, Eric Fructuoso, Rayver Cruz, Christopher de Leon, Soliman Cruz, Ina Feleo, Isabelle de Leon, and Andrea Brillantes.

Alongside On the Job: The Missing 8, the competing entries include Pablo Larrain's Spencer, Paolo Sorrentino's The Hand Of God, Michel Franco's Sundown, Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Lost Daughter, Gaston Duprat and Mariano Cohn's Official Competition, Jane Campion's The Power Of The Dog, Stephane Brize's Un Autre Monde, and Ana Lily Amirpour's Mona Lisa And The Blood Moon.

The 78th Venice International Film Festival will be held from September 1 to 11. This year, South Korean director Bong Joon-ho will be the president of the jury.
