Erik Matti's award-winning crime thriller On The Job proved to be a hell of a ride when it premiered in 2013. We were all thrown into the world of two hired killers who were temporarily released from prison to assassinate political targets, and the two law enforcers whose paths they cross.

Eight years later and we're finally getting the sequel in the form of an HBO Asia Original six-part series. As expected, On The Job will also be filled with heart-stopping suspense. This time, the series will deal with even more current issues and challenges in today's world.

Here's everything we know about HBO's On The Job so far.

What is the On The Job series about?

Matti continues the story from the film and the crime syndicates, hitmen prisoners, and law enforcers that try to uncover the truth behind it all.

While we know to expect the series to tell the same kind of story, it doesn't mean we're not in for a couple of surprises. The series, still inspired by true events, will focus on crime syndicates that temporarily released prison inmates to take care of business—political assassinations, that is. We won't say much but, sometimes, life really imitates art. Or, in this case, art imitates life.

A lot has changed since the film was released, and the series will tackle all of that. According to HBO's press release, the series will also spotlight "the real-world issue of fake news and how easily truth can be spun, manufactured and disseminated to the public in an age where information spreads faster than ever."

Who is in the cast for the On The Job series?

Gerald Anderson, Joel Torre, Joey Marquez, Piolo Pascual, and Leo Martinez will step back into their characters' shoes for the series.

John Arcilla stars as Sisoy Salas (a seasoned journalist), Dennis Trillo as Roman Rubio (a fall guy who becomes a convicted criminal), Dante Rivero as Mayor Pedring Eusebio (a mayor and a member of a powerful political dynasty), Lotlot De Leon as Weng (an editor and journalist), Christopher De Leon as Arnel Pangan (the owner and publisher of a newspaper company), Andrea Brillantes as Diane Salas (Salas' teenage daughter), and Agot Isidro as Senator Alice Samson (a politician against crime and corruption).
