FYI, Samuel L. Jackson Delivered the MCU's First F-Bomb… In the Outtakes

Let it be known that Chris Pratt was not actually the first person to drop an F-bomb in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That honor goes to Samuel L. Jackson, despite what fans and canon-zealouts might make you think.

During a global press conference for the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion, Kevin Feige made a point to confirm that Samuel L. Jackson was the first person to drop the F-bomb in an outtake from the first Iron Man.

“He did deliver the MCU’s first F-bomb in his very first appearance as Nick Fury. It just happened to be cut out of the movie,” said Feige.

Jon Favreau himself confirmed it on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he described the scene as follows: “[At the end of] Iron Man, [Tony Stark] just walks into his living room after the credits and he gets surprised by Nick Fury being there inviting him to join the Avengers Initiative. And that kind of kicks off the whole [MCU] sequencing that happens.”

Favreau revealed that they shot two post-credit scenes for Iron Man, and the F-bomb was the one that got the axe: “I had him do a take for me, [but] I knew it wasn't gonna be the movie.”

In the deleted scene, Tony Stark asks Nick Fury, “Who are you?”

His response: “Nick Fury, motherfucker.”

At the press conference, Jackson recalled filming the scene: “Yeah, it just ran around in-house for a long time. I didn’t even know it was… I remember doing it, but I never knew what happened to it and I didn’t think about it.”

Pratt might have gotten the first F-bomb on-screen, but in all honesty, Jackson doesn’t mind. In fact, he’s pretty indifferent to the whole thing. “I never thought about it, actually.” And isn’t that the most ice-cold, Nick Fury response ever.

Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in the upcoming spy thriller Secret Invasion, dropping on Disney+ in the Philippines on June 21. In the Skrull-centric new series, Fury uncovers a conspiracy and gathers the old gang to save the world.
