The Rings of Power Tops Prime Video Chart in the Philippines Just Hours After Premiere

Have you watched The Rings of Power yet?

It’s been only 12 hours since The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premiered on Amazon Prime Video, but Tolkien fans have already pushed it to the top of the charts worldwide. In the Philippines, the LOTR prequel show made its way to the top of the chart just hours after its release at 9 a.m. Philippine time.

The Rings of Power beat out all other Amazon originals like antihero show The Boys and fantasy series The Wheel of Time. Here are the top 10 shows and movies on Amazon Prime Video in the Philippines as of September 2.

1| The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

2| Samaritan

3| The Boys

4| The Terminal List

5| The Wheel of Time

6| The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

7| Reacher

8| Anna

9| No Time to Die

10| Hunter Killer

The Rings of Power has been touted as the most expensive show of all time, and episode cost estimates have only increased the closer we got to the premiere. According to The Wall Street Journal, the latest estimates puts The Rings of Power’s overall costs at a whopping $715 million, or about $89 million per episode. This is more than quadruple the cost of its biggest high fantasy competitor, House of the Dragon, which cost HBO “only” $20 million per episode.

The Rings of Power are set two millennia before the events of the original trilogy and the Hobbit trilogy, during Sauron’s first rising. The show follows Galadriel, Elrond, and a whole new batch of characters as they witness the forging of the Rings of Power, the first rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the kingdom of Numenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men. The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films heavily referenced these events, and Amazon’s new show will put the spotlight on Middle-earth’s epic and tragic Second Age.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power upcoming episodes will be released on Saturdays, 12 a.m. Philippine time, only on Amazon Prime Video. Watch The Rings of Power of Prime Video for only P149 per month.
