The Only Marvel Show You Need to Watch Before Seeing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Marvel’s Phase Five will kick off with the worldwide release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third film in the Ant-Man trilogy. For the last five or so MCU films, Marvel has been building up the multiverse and its place in Kevin Feige’s master plan. We dove right into the multiverse in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and as the title suggests, Quantumania will throw us into the deep end of the quantum realm. If Phases One to Three were dubbed the Infinity Saga, then Phases Four to Six are the Multiverse Saga—and based on what we’ve seen so far, Kang the Conqueror is our next big bad villain.

The MCU’s interconnecting storylines can be daunting, and there’s a lot to brush up on before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania screens in cinemas. But don’t fret. You don’t actually have to rewatch everything from Iron Man 1. In fact, you don’t even need to rewatch Avengers: Endgame because who has the time?
If we had to prescribe one required watch before seeing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, then it would be Loki Season 1. Scott Lang doesn’t even show up in the Disney+ series—but Kang does. And we have a feeling Quantumania will be just as much Kang’s movie as Scott Lang’s. We doubt Loki will make an appearance in Quantumania, but Loki’s plot is essentially a cheat sheet to understand how the multiverse, Nexus events, and variants will play a role in the Multiverse Saga. Loki marks Kang’s first appearance (and first variant) in the MCU, and it’s a doozy. We get some backstory on the dangerous Kang variants, one of which we’ll meet in Quantumania. From the trailer alone, we already know this Kang is going to give us chills.
Loki is only six episodes long, and you can easily binge-watch it on Disney+ before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres. If you have extra time, you can even rewatch the first two Ant-Man films for fun.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released in Philippine cinemas on February 15, 2025. Paul Rudd will return as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne (Wasp), Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. Kathryn Newton joins the cast as the older version of Cassie Lang, Scott’s daughter, while Jonathan Majors will make his Marvel film debut as Kang the Conqueror.
