Dolly de Leon's Triangle of Sadness Is Coming to Prime Video in the Philippines

In case you missed Triangle of Sadness in cinemas, Amazon Prime Video is bringing the critically-acclaimed black satire to local streaming. By now, every film lover knows the title Triangle of Sadness, and every Filipino has become a solid supporter of the film’s third act star Dolly de Leon.

Ruben Ostlund’s Triangle of Sadness won the Palme d’Or at last year’s Cannes Film Festival for its satirical portrayal of wealth inequality and the currency of beauty. It follows a group of guests and crew on a cruise ship, which capsizes in the middle of nowhere and forces the group to reexamine their roles in society. The film and cast received praise worldwide, but none perhaps as much as Dolly de Leon.

The Filipino actress captured audiences with her soon-to-be iconic portrayal of Abigail, the toilet cleaner, which earned her historic nominations at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs. She might have been snubbed by the Oscars, but Dolly is certainly still a winner in our eyes. 

Triangle of Sadness will start streaming on Prime Video this month on February 23, 2023.

Prime Video also has a number of other carefully-curated titles arriving on its platform this month, such as Oscar-nominated legal drama Argentina, 1985 (now streaming), Korean conman drama Decoy (now streaming), the second season of steampunk fantasy show Carnival Row (February 17), and Christopher Waltz’s comedy thriller series The Consultant (February 24).

February is going to be a big month for Filipino filmmakers on Prime Video as it’ll mark the premiere of Ten Little Mistresses, Amazon’s first original Filipino film, coming to the streaming platform on February 15.
