The Pixies are Finally Coming to Manila
Iconic rock band The Pixies are coming to Manila for the first time on May 10, 2026 as the outfit celebrates 40 years of alternative music greatness.
According to local concert organizer Karpos Live,Ā the pioneering alternative rock quartet consisting of Black Francis, Joey Santiago, David Lovering, and Paz Lenchantin will bring their Pixie 40 World Tour to Manila at the Filinvest Tent to perform their iconic tracks such as āWhere is my Mind?ā from the move Fight Club, "Debaser," and āTame.ā
An innovative force and drivers of the post-punk/hardcore zeitgeist in the late '80s and throughout the '90s, the Pixies' alt-rock style served as a template for other emerging musicians at the time via their mastery overĀ dynamics that even reaches the realm of unhinged. The band typically craft their songs with quiet verses, euphoric and cathartic hooks, cryptic lyrics, and overall raw production much like legendary bands within the same circuit such as Nirvana. Kurt Cobain famously said that The Pixies was the most influential band on Nirvana.

āDecades later, the reunion reaffirmed the bandās reputation as a live act,ā Karpos Live said. āIf anything, their performances had only grown sharperāuniting multiple generations of fans from different backgrounds, all coming together to embrace Pixiesā genre defining sets.ā
The band's trademark mastery of dynamics that range from quiet and sweet melodies into primal screams and belting is what makes their music enduringly compelling even after four decades. Think of their music as a sort of emotional whiplash when experiencing records such as Surfer Rosa (1988) and Doolittle (1989).
The Pixies are well within the hallowed ranks of the pioneers of the in-your-face, unaplogetic alternative post-punk icons of the time such as Nirvana, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, and Weezer.
Tickets go on sale starting November 13 and can be purchased here.
The show only has General Admission tickets since it's standing room only at the tent and will go for P4,450 (inclusive of ticket service fees).
