Wanderland 2020: New Acts Added; DOH Says Okay to Attend Festivals
The country’s biggest indie music festival is pushing through with brand new acts following the cancellation of several artists due to the current threat of the corona virus.
Wanderland 2020 has announced that breakout Filipino soul-synth-pop act No Rome, Australian indie folk rock band The Paper Kites, electronic music duo Cosmo’s Midnight, and OPM superstars Urbandub are taking the Wanderland stage on March 7 and 8, 2020. They replace Novo Amor, Sabrina Claudio, Ari Lennox and Raveena who have all pulled out of the festival citing issues related to the outbreak of COVID-19.
“As Wanderland draws near, we understand the growing concern about COVID-19 (Formerly nCOV 2019) and are constantly monitoring the situation to ensure that you, Wanderers are at top priority,” a statement from Karpos Multimedia, which organizes Wanderland, read. “Festival-goers can expect health and safety measures prescribed by professionals on the event grounds. We ask for your full cooperation as we continue to make Wanderland a safe space.”
Organizers also cited a joint bulletin issued by the Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) concerning public gatherings.
“The (DOH), (DILG), and (DOT) would like to assure everyone that it is safe to organize and attend public gatherings, meetings, and festivals as long as precautionary measures identified by the DOH are observed,” the statement read.
