A new study has found that couples who have an active and amazing sex life are more likely to cheat.
In the study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, researchers from Florida State University (FSU) discovered that men and women who are sexually active tend to seek more erotic adventures with other people. making them unfaithful (even if they are sexually satisfied) with their current partner.
For the study, the researchers observed 223 newly married couples for up to 3 years and 6 months. The couples were required to share intimate details about themselves, which included relationship satisfaction (both marital and sexual), commitment issues, andÂinstances (if any) when they've cheated on their partner.
The results revealed that people who were highly satisfied with their sex lives, sadly, had a history of infidelity. Apparently, people who have great sex lives were more likely to want to have sex with others.
"They felt more positive about sex in general and would seek it out regardless of how they felt about their main relationship," the study says.
Aside from finding out the ill effects of having great sex, the researchers also found that younger men and women were also more likely to cheat.
Results also showed that attractive men are more likely to have an affair.
It was also discovered that men who had short-term sexual partners in the past are also prone to extra-marital intercourse. On the other hand, it was the opposite for women.
Of course, just like with other relationship and sex studies, the findings here may not be true for all couples. So this shouldn't stop you from having great sex.
