Aman Resorts, lauded by many as the world’s best resort chain, is giving 16 guests the chance to travel by private jet and stay at its plush properties.
The 22-day expedition is planned for April 15 to May 6, 2019 and will start from Japan to China, Vietnam, Thailand, Bhutan, India, Greece, Montenegro and finish in Italy. The ultra-luxe journey may seem costly at $126,888 (over P7 million), but it does come fully escorted and includes once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Guests will travel aboard the Airbus ACJ318, a luxury jet boasting comfort and space.
The Airbus ACJ318 is equipped with four lounges, two restrooms, one shower, and two flight attendants.
The 22-day expedition begins in Aman Tokyo.
Each guest will have a private car, driver, and guide at his or her disposal.
One of the highlights of the Tokyo stay is a sword fighting lesson.
“In this private informational session, you will be free to ask questions and, if you wish, you can also don a 'sumo suit' and try your hand at the sport.” The itinerary also includes a sushi-making class and sumo lesson.
After Tokyo, the next stop is Shanghai.
Guests will stay at Amanyangyun, one of Aman’s four properties in China. Set in a tranquil village, Amanyangyun is a 10-hectare retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The tour will focus on Shanghai’s architecture.
On the first day, there will be a visit to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and a walking tour along The Bund. The rest of the days are free, with Aman suggesting trips to the city’s different districts.
Guests will then jet off to Amanoi in Ninh Thuan, Vietnam.
The resort is located between a national park and a marine reserve that overlooks Vinh Hy Bay.
At Vietnam, there will be more outdoor-centered activities.
The day starts with off-road cycling followed by a hike to Temple Cove. Afterward, Aman offers a complimentary yoga or pilates class. Guests can also enjoy the Beach Club and what it has to offer with no reservations required. The activities continue with a boating experience at Vinh Hy Bay, a hike to Goga Peak and Hanging Lake, and end with an afternoon massage at the Aman Spa.
The private jet will then fly to Phuket, Thailand.
The three-day stay Amanpuri begins with a stop at the elephant sanctuary and tiger kingdom where guests will get the chance to feed, walk, and observe the animals.
An exhilarating helicopter ride over Phang Nga Bay is planned.
The next stop is Thimpu in Bhutan, a richly forested mountain area with ancient monasteries and temples.
At Amankora Thimpu, guests will meet Lhatu Wangchuk, the former UN Ambassador from Bhutan. The whole stay is all-inclusive, with no schedule enforced.
Guests will then move to Aman’s second resort in Bhutan.
The 24-suite Amankora Paro mixes rustic elements with contemporary design. In Paro, the itinerary begins with Buddhist monastery and fortress Paro Dzong, National Museum of Bhutan, Kyichu Lkakhang temple, and a blessing ceremony by a tulku—a reincarnated lama.
The second day starts with a half-day hike to Tiger’s Nest.
Tiger’s Nest, or Taktshang Goempa, is a revered monument that hangs off a cliff. The hike takes two hours and 45 minutes and culminates with tea and contemplation. After the hike, guests can enjoy a hot stone massage or continue to explore before flying to India.
The last stop before Europe is Alwar, India...
...with a stay at luxury oasis Amanbagh. Guests will be able to roam around Jaipur: Hawa Mahal palace, City Palace Museum, and the various markets around. For the next day, Aman suggests a visit to the old ruined city of Bandhavghar, Mansarover Lake, Ajabgarh Fort & Village, and a tour of the villages and locals herding their livestock—described as a “profound and inspiring experience.” The day ends with fire meditation and a farewell dinner at Amanbagh.
Then, it’s off to Greece’s Peloponnese for three days.
After the seven-hour flight, guests will be transferred via helicopter to Aman’s hilltop resort hotel, Amanzoe, in Greece’s Peloponnese. There, guests can enjoy the private beach, watersports, and the Beach Club. The day’s activities begin with a short boat trip to Spetses Island.
On the second day, there will be a private transfer to Athens airport.
Those who wish to depart at a later time may do so. A private car, driver, and guide await in Athens where guests can stop at Epidaurus Ancient Theatre or explore the ancient citadel Acropolis of Athens and its many structures.
The private jet will then set off to Aman Sveti Stefan in Montenegro.
The villa was once the royal summer residence of Queen Marija Karadjordjevic and is surrounded by dense forests of cedar, pine, and olive trees.
Guests can explore Kotor town’s scenic views and historic coastlines.
The around-the-world expedition ends in Aman Venice.
But not without a gondola ride on the Grand Canal.
The suggested experiences in Venice include a visit to Piazza San Marco, St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, Torre dell’Orologio Clock Tower, Rialto Market, and the various museums, galleries, and churches.
