A New Luxury Villa Resort is Coming to Siargao
Siargao is fast becoming one of the country’s top tourist destinations, with thousands of visitors lured by its breathtaking landscapes and, of course, surf-ready beaches every year. At least one good thing about the island is that there are many places where the tourists can stay at nearly every price point—from cheap hostels to luxury resorts.
For those who want to experience the best in hospitality, a new luxury resort is slated to open in the island soon. On Tuesday (August 13), it was announced that Robinsons Hotels & Resorts (RHR), a unit of Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) of the Gokongwei Group, had signed a management agreement with Hira Holdings Inc. (HHI) for a luxury villa resort. Located in Brgy. Malinao, General Luna, the eco-friendly villa resort will be situated on land measuring 2,856 square meters and is expected to open sometime in 2026.

This is the first venture into real estate of HHI, which is perhaps best-known as the first franchisee of leading fast-food chain Jollibee. Both companies said the project “aims to boost Siargao’s tourism appeal while providing guests with a serene retreat that reflects the island's charm and tranquility.”
“We are grateful to RHR for opening this opportunity to us,” said HHi President Mr. Haresh Hiranand. “We are confident with the brands and capacity of Robinsons Hotels that’s why it was easy for us to trust and sign with our very first hotel and we look forward to building more with them in the future.”
For its part, RHR said it was proud to have the new project included in its growing portfolio. The company currently has 30 hotels nationwide under five local hotel brands: Go Hotels, Go Hotels Plus, Summit Hotels and Resorts, Grand Summit Hotels, and Fili Hotel.

Siargao, which recently ranked number one in Lonely Planet’s list of best places to visit in Southeast Asia, recorded a total of 529,822 tourist arrivals in 2023, representing an impressive 324 percent increase compared to 2022’s 125,008. The continued rise in popularity of the island off Surigao Del Norte is one reason RHR’s expansion plans have diversified to include franchising and management agreements. “We are confident in the bullish economic projection of the country and with our expertise in hotel brand development we would like to enable optimistic investors who want to venture into the hospitality industry as well,” Barun said.
