Coming Soon: Mindanao Avenue to Commonwealth Avenue in Just 10 Minutes

Commuters passing through Mindano Avenue know that traffic there can get pretty hellish. They'll be glad to know that a project is being planned to ease their suffering.
NLEX Corp. announced that it is planning to develop a two-kilometer expressway section between Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Highway and is earmarking P2 billion for the project.
The project, which will help reduce traffic congestion especially in the Mindanao Avenue Toll Plaza, is expected to commence in the second half of 2021.
The expressway section is part of the 11.5-kilometer NLEX-C5 Link between Mindanao Avenue, Quirino Highway, Regalado Avenue, Congressional Avenue and C.P. Garcia Avenue in Quezon City. Aside from regular commuters, the project will also cater to cargo trucks, haulers, and other commercial vehicles that regularly travel between Manila and Navotas.
This NLEX-C5 Link project is expected to benefit 45,000 motorists daily and will cut travel time between Mindanao Avenue to Commonwealth Avenue to 10 minutes instead of the usual 45 minutes.
“The construction of this new P2-billion expressway section will be welcome news for NLEX commuters who currently face daily traffic gridlock in the congested portions of Mindanao Avenue,” NLEX Corp President Luigi L. Bautista said.
“Eventually, this section will be integrated into the future NLEX expansion to C5 and C.P. Garcia near Katipunan Avenue,” he added. “We foresee an interconnected tollway network that will be accessible to the west, east, north, and south sides of Metro Manila.”
Bautista also said that this will help contribute to the government’s economic stimulus initiative that will generate more jobs and help revive the economy amidst the pandemic.
