This Money Remittance Service Is Making Real-Time Fund Transfers More Accessible

The Palawan Group of Companies teams up with self-service payment kiosk operator Pay&Go.

Money remittance and pawning service The Palawan Group of Companies (PGC) has forged a partnership with Pay&Go. The collaboration means that the 24-hour self-service payment service's customers can conveniently cash in their accounts through Pay&Go’s more than 2,000 kiosks nationwide.

“We, at Palawan, always look for ways to make things easier for our customers. With Pay&Go, we are expanding our reach, and at the same time, giving our clients more options and access to our services,” Third Librea, head of PalawanPay, said.

The partnership adds to the growing list of options for real-time cash-in transactions. The service is specifically available to users of the digital wallet PalawanPay. With the massive shift to digital payments, both companies are looking to broaden the reach of their services in the Philippines.

“We have always been pushing for digital finance literacy among Filipinos. I believe this partnership will bring our products closer to the masses,” Mariel Medina, chief commercial officer for Pay&Go, explained. “Our target in the next five years is to expand our network of kiosks to 5,000 across the country.”

Pay&Go is a self-service payment kiosk operator certified by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, as well as an independent ATM deployer accredited by BancNet. Its services include e-money cash-in, government payments, mobile airtime load, bank deposits, and transport top-ups. The company is run by BTI Payments in the Philippines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Australian-based ATM and payment technology Banktech.

The PGC, on the other hand, is a homegrown financial institution that offers pawnbroker services, domestic and international remittances, micro-insurance, bills payment, electronic load, and money exchange, among other services. Other than PalawanPay, its most popular chains include Palawan Pawnshop and Palawan Express Pera Padala. PGC has more than 25,000 branches nationwide, including Pera Padala outlets and PalawanPay Money Shops.
