It’s easy to jump to the conclusion that the world’s biggest and most valuable companies, like tech giants Apple and Facebook, would be the best places to work. There’s a lot to be said about the connections employees gain at these Silicon Valley companies, but prestige doesn’t always translate to employee happiness—especially during a pandemic.
Count yourself lucky if your company has taken extra steps to take care of its workers despite the massive crises of 2020. Almost every month in 2020, we read headlines of companies letting go of employees, withholding pay, and closing altogether. But a number of companies have managed to survive the pandemic without sacrificing the happiness and wellbeing of its employees.
Glassdoor, an international job hunting platform, surveyed 1.3 million employees around the world to find the best and happiest employees. In its 13th annual Employees’ Choice Awards for the Best Places to Work, Glassdoor declared Bain & Company, one of the world’s big three management consultancies, as the best place to work in 2021 in the large company category (with over 1,000 employees).
The company received the highest rating (4.6) on Glassdoor, just above the second best company, tech manufacturer NVIDIA.
