Tyme Group Makes it to TIME's Top 100 Influential Companies of 2025
Multi-country digital banking group Tyme has landed on Time Magazine’s anual list of the world's 100 most influential companies this year recognized for excellence and innovation in various fields .
Singapore-based Tyme Group is the co-parent of local digital bank GoTyme, along with the Gokongwei Group of Companies.
The digital banking firm has so far garnered about 17.5 million customers in South Africa and the Philippines, with around 45 percent of Filipino customers being from low-income households.
This year is the fifth iteration of the TIME 100 as the magazine’s editors flipped through suggestions and applications across sectors based on “a mosaic of qualities, studying impact, innovation, ambition, and success, each in the forms that take shape today.”
Based on Time Magazine's website, the companies were divided by the following categories: Innovators, Disrupters, Leaders, Titans, Pioneers. It also introduced the Impact Awards that featured standout companies in the fields of artificial intelligence, health, sustainability, equality, and culture.
The magazine recognized Tyme Group’s efforts to meet underbanked and lower income prospective customers via their numerous banking kiosks.
The company raised $250 million late last year, with $150 million from Brazilian digital bank juggernaut Nubank. Tyme Group also plans on expanding into other Southeast Asian markets.
GoTyme, the digital banking player’s operation in the Philippines, first launched in 2022 as a partnership with the Gokongwei Group.

“You can walk into a grocery store in South Africa and open a bank account with us in under three minutes,” Tyme Group Chief Growth Officer Rachel Freeman said. “Why? (do we have to collaborate with larger banks). We’re going to beat them out.”
The company also focused on purposefully doing away with the brick-and-mortar bank setups to emphasize their kiosks, which are usually found in retail stores customers are already familiar with.
Other TIME100 Awardees
With the aforementioned inaugural Impact Awards, Google DeepMind was given the nod for the field of AI, Vertex Pharmaceuticals for Health, Schneider Electric in sustainability, Janngo Capital for equality, and The Lego Group for its impact in culture.
Actor Ryan Reynolds was featured on the cover of the list for his marketing and production company Maximum Effort and other companies he co-owns or has sold valued at over $14 billion. The Hollywood A-lister also co-owns the Wrexham AFC football club, which became the first team ever to win three consecutive promotions up the British football ranks.
Anonymous AI-driven taxi company Waymo was also on TIME’s cover for the Disrupters responsible tech development through their automated taxis that aim to cut traffic deaths while meeting Silicon Valley safety and tech standards.
