"The activities will be done during the Holy Week, when fewer customers are expected to be home, thus lessening the impact of service interruptions on water consumers," Maynilad said in a statement.

Maynilad supplies water for the West Zone of the Greater Manila area. In March, Manila Water, which supplies water for the East Zone, drew flak for prolonged periods of water service interruptions, leaving their consumers water-less for weeks. Both contractors are regulated by the state under the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.
