Newly released Forbes' World’s Billionaires List for 2024 is not limited to business tycoons. A newcomer among the U.S. magazines' compilation of the richest people in the world is American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift.

Bloomberg reported in October 2023 that Swift gained billionaire status with a total net worth of $1.1 billion. This comes after her record-breaking Eras Tour that started in 2023 in the United States and is expected to conclude in December 2024 in Canada. The concert made stops in Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Australia, and Singapore; and is soon coming to Portugal, England, Poland, and Austria.

Forbes also noted that the 34-year-old is "the first musician to make the ranks solely based on her songs and performances." She is given a self-made score of eight (out of 10) with her fortune including more than $500 million in estimated wealth earned through music royalties and touring, an additional of $500 million for her music catalog, and $125 million in real estate.

Swift's transition from Big Machine Label Group to Universal Music Group’s Republic Records also allowed her to gain complete ownership over her songwriting and recordings, significantly boosting her earnings. This move, coupled with her decision to re-record her first six albums, has not only endeared her to fans but has also proven to be a lucrative strategy, ensuring her musical legacy and financial independence. It was in 2021 when she began releasing re-records of her first six albums after a dispute case with Big Machine Records founder Scott Borchetta as well as new owner Scooter Braun.

Swift also ranks fifth in Forbes' list of Power Women.

Other celebrity billionaires in the list are George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, Peter Jackson, Tyler Perry, Rihanna, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, and Dick Wolf.
