Mocha Resigns; There is a God. Unless...

Hallelujah! Right?

Following a string of controversies that called into question her already-questionable qualifications, Mocha Uson has announced her resignation from the post of Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary at a Senate hearing today.

A little under a week ago, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar addressed a call for Uson's resignation by Philippine Information Agency head Harold Clavite. Andanar told dzBB, "You know, only one person can ask Asec. Mocha Uson to resign and that is is our President because he is the only appointing authority."

Today, the third of October—mark the date for posterity—Uson has officially resigned, and a great many prayers were answered.

(That includes prayers from her own colleagues at the PCOO, at least nine of whom asked for President Duterte to fire the controversial Asec.)

Unless, of course, this is the first indication of an even worse fate for the Philippines: Senator Mocha Uson.

Her resignation from the PCOO post has also fueled speculation that she might run for a seat in Senate in 2019. Andanar, after all, announced last year that Uson could possibly be included in the 2019 Senate slate of PDP-Laban (earlier this year, Senator Koko Pimentel denied this). The likelihood, thankfully, is low—at least based on the latest Pulse Asia Senatorial Elections survey, which shows only 1.3 percent planning to vote for her.
