It's only been a year since lockdowns started and yet many people seem to have forgotten (or... ignored?) that we're living through a pandemic. We're looking at you, partygoers that opt to go maskless. And, according to tourism secretary Berna Romulo Puyat, celebrities and influencers, especially, should set an example.

Romulo Puyat gave the word of caution during a session with Summit Media's editors as she urged Filipinos to be responsible tourists. "Celebrities should be mindful. People look up to them. If you're required to do minimum health and safety protocols, they should do maximum health and safety protocols," Puyat Romulo says.

The tourism secretary added, "It's not because you test [negative], you can party. You cannot party. You cannot, you shouldn't. You're only negative at the time of the test." Hear that? COVID-19 doesn't stop for your little parties.

So, how does one be a responsible tourist in the age of coronavirus? Face masks, face shields, hand washing, and social distancing.

"We have to restart tourism but we have to balance giving back jobs with health and safety protocols. I do not want to go back to [locking down] tourist destinations because nagpabaya ang travelers," Romulo Puyat said.
