Tributes Pour in For CNN Philippines As It Bids Farewell
After days of speculation, CNN Philippines finally confirmed its closing.
On January 31, 2024, it will officially be saying goodbye to the Filipino viewing public. With it comes the end of one of the Philippines' most influential media networks. For years, the outfit was a constant source of top-notch programming and reporting. It had hosted Presidential debates, wrote on the most pertinent social and economic issues, and interviewed leaders in various fields.
Unfortunately, the financial burden brought about by the licensing agreement was only exacerbated by the lack of advertising placements. We are again seeing another media giant fall in the aftermath of the ABS-CBN shutdown. The tributes, of course, have started pouring in from reporters and supporters alike.
