Funniest Reactions to Mocha Uson at the Senate Hearing for Fake News
You know something's not quite right in the world when Senator Nancy Binay looks like a shining beacon of hope in the country.
During a Senate public information committee hearing on fake news earlier today, October 4, Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson pleaded "blogger" when accused of propagating fake news.
Regarding the issue of journalism ethics, Uson said that the rules of fairness do not apply to her since she is a blogger and not a journalist. She also maintained, "Biktima rin ako ng fake news. Ako rin ay na-bash online.”
According to Binay, Uson can no longer separate her private affairs with her government duties and cited Republic Act No. 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. The senator then asked the assistant secretary to choose between being a blogger and being ASEC.
But after some heated questioning, it seemed that Uson bounced back quickly, even requesting a photo with Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. Still, we wonder if she can quickly rebound from the stream of GIFs and memes that social media is currently throwing her way.
