The Best Twitter Reactions to PAGCOR's Viral New Logo
Social media is notoriously fast when it comes to letting their thoughts be known. Doesn’t matter if it’s a celebrity, a micro-influencer, or a regular user whose post randomly went viral. If they have thoughts, they will let you know.
Government entities are not exempt from this either. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) unveiled its shiny, new logo to mark its 40th anniversary yesterday, July 11, 2023, and social media had some things to say.
According to the agency’s Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco, the new logo “incorporates the element of fire associated with energy, inspiration, passion, and transformation. It symbolizes the flame that ignites change and drives progress. The logo likewise reflects a beacon which symbolizes guidance, leadership, and direction. It represents a guiding light that helps people find their way.”
Whatever that means.
This all sounds good on paper, but people were quick to question whether the execution looks worthy of the P3M spent on it. Many pointed out its similarity with Petron’s logo, a shrimp, and heck, even the devil.
They had two colors, a gradient tool, and a dream. Here are some tweets that best capture people’s reactions—or collective confusion—to PAGCOR’s “rebrand.”
