Dr. Martens Is Closing All of Its Stores in the Philippines

It's the end of an era for Dr. Martens. On Friday (December 23), the British footwear company announced that it will shutter all of its stores in the Philippines on December 31, 2022. Dr. Martens has four stores in the country located in Glorietta 4, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, and Manila Bay.

Dr. Martens, also called Doc Martens or just simply Docs, is known for its PVC air-cushioned soles, recognizable stitching, and durability. The 1460 Lace-Up Boots are one of the most iconic boots of all time, and is a staple for numerous rock stars and punk and grunge subcultures.

The closure comes even as the total group revenue of Dr. Martens worldwide has seen an increase. According to Statista, "the recent years have seen a popularity revival for Dr. Martens, as seen in the revenue figures of the shoe retailer worldwide." From 2021, the brand's group revenue grew from £773 million to £908.3 million in 2022.

With the closing, Dr. Martens' classic bestsellers and original icons are on sale at up to 50 percent off. It's your chance to score the pair you've always been. But, you should make your move now as the brand says there's already a high volume of customers in-store. So much so that staff might not be able to immediately answer calls or messages.
