Fendi's 2025 Men's Preview Showcases Vintage Inspirations and Modern Elegance

Nostalgia fills the air as Italian luxury fashion house Fendi's centenary approaches in 2025. This is evident in its Men's Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which pays homage to the brand's heritage, honoring traditions that existed even before the first men's collection in 1990.

Artistic Director Silvia Venturini Fendi likens Fendi to a time capsule, reflecting decades and destinations, all guided by the hallmark of Italian craftsmanship. In this spirit, new wardrobe essentials are crafted into stylish pieces that express modern masculinity and luxury. Traditional work and leisure uniforms are reimagined in soft, powdery colors such as sherbet, mist, ivory, caramel, buttermilk, soft blues, natural indigo, black, and forest green.

In an interview, Fendi says she "wanted to do a very light collection, and give a kind of easiness."

While exploring the archives, Fendi discovered a squirrel emblem used by her grandmother for packaging and the first Fendi store. She also found a 1984 photo of the Italian national football team at the airport, dressed in crested blazers, trench coats, and checks, with FF-logo weekenders at their feet.

The collection also showcases the Selleria stitch, a technique learned by the Fendi family from Roman saddlers when it started in 1925. 

This inspired her to create a crest featuring the squirrel and other brand icons, giving blazers and sweaters worn over shorts a school uniform vibe for her youthful cast with their gangly legs.

This stitch is creatively used throughout the collection, appearing as a broken pinstripe in suiting jacquard, as a stripe or tonal FF logo on linen and plush textures, on Japanese boro denim, and as a minimalist detail on crisp wool outerwear and leather goods.

Subtle volumes bring a touch of the past, seen in a roomy bomber jacket, fluid trench coat, and 3-button blazers with loose-cut slashed trousers. Unique details add a twist: poplin shirt sleeves slashed at the elbow can be worn long or short, polo plackets twist from throat to rib, and asymmetric silk knits unbutton down the shoulder for an airy feel. Over pleated shorts, there are long, patch-pocket overshirts with silk ties, layered under short summer jackets in tonal combinations of linen, leather, Madras check cotton, and ultralight suede.

The Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 Accessories collection reflects the season's focus on the Selleria stitch, featuring the Peekaboo ISeeU Soft bag, diagonal shoppers, a new zippered Baguette Double crossbody bag, and a patchwork Baguette made from colorful offcuts from Fendi ateliers. The collection includes sneakers with whipstitch details, lug-sole loafers, and slip-on flats with patent leather or wax thread embroidery.
