OK folks, time to bust out the hair mousse, acid-wash jeans, and tiger print. Because the '80s are back! Or, at least, that seems to be case according to Google's latest Year in Search report. Because in the US in 2018, "1980s fashion" was the number one term on the fashion list. Also in the top 10: "80s men's fashion." Gnarly.

Does this really mean it's time to grab a strong-shouldered suit and a pair of baggy trousers? Well, maybe and maybe not. The rankings are based on which terms spiked the most compared to last year. And while that's obviously indicative of shifting winds, increased search interest is just one part of the many disparate elements—what designers are making, what stores are selling, what's getting the most likes on Intagram—that help drive a trend.

Still! Don't be shocked if you start mining Ferris Bueller's wardrobe for style inspiration sometime soon.

Here's the whole top 10 list:

  1. 1980s fashion
  2. Grunge style
  3. 1990s fashion
  4. 2000s fashion
  5. Meghan Markle
  6. Men's fashion
  7. Harajuku fashion
  8. Hipster style
  9. Kate Middleton
  10. 80s mens fashion
