Louis Vuitton introduces a logo you can actually wear

The iconic Monogram receives an update in gray and black.

Men, we have arrived at the center of the ‘90s wormhole, and what we found—aside from crop tops, chokers, and Winona Ryder—is the logo.

What was once reserved as scribbles on a tag, a niggling itch against your nape, has returned to the fore as brazen embellishments on the bodies, sleeves, waistbands, and other surfaces of garments and accessories. But before you break out your vintage Champion sweatshirt, take a second to recall the bougie days when you sauntered out the door as a living billboard with, say, a giant horse on your chest and a red question mark on your backside.

May we suggest a less loud way to partake in this glorious moment?

Consider the Monogram Eclipse. The latest update to one of the most recognizable logos in the world sees its familiar deep brown and golden honey give way to a shadowy combo. Elements of the Monogram, the interlocking Ls and Vs and their attendant flowers, are now rendered in metallic gray, while the premium leather of the Parisian house become the perfect foil in matte black. 


It was the black leather of the Malle Courrier, an iconic trunk from the Louis Vuitton archives, that served as the origin for the new colorway. And much like its inspiration, the Monogram Eclipse comes in various bag iterations. Keep tabs on the drawstring-top Backpack Explorer, the Travel Bag Voyager, and, among the full complement of accessories, from small leather goods to footwear, a military-inspired ankle boot.

We hear they’re flying off the shelves. Which comes as no surprise. This blacked-out iteration of the Monogram lets you to take full control of the goods. You’ll be wearing the logo and not the other way around.
