Onitsuka Tiger's Latest Collection Pays Homage to Japanese Subcultures
All of us have come to expect Onitsuka Tiger's collections to combine fashion with sports, heritage, and innovation. But, that doesn't mean things have become repetitive. The Japanese brand's latest collection, which pays homage to Japanese subcultures, is just proof of that. Using styles from Japanese fashion scenes (think tsuppari, ninja, and punk boys), the brand has created a genderless collection that looks back yet is modern at the same time.
"Through this campaign visual, Onitsuka Tiger pays tribute to the '80s," the brand said in a release. "This collection is about those years and is delivered with an active and contemporary take. Layering, typical of Japanese ceremonial dress, is pivotal in conceiving a style that expresses an original and genderless collection."

The campaign captures supple movement and posing inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of "purity and austerity." Models wear ultra-oversized tees, graphic kaftans, dresses, nylon jackets, bermuda pants, waistcoats, and more paired with the Petal, Cresty, and Acromount sneakers from the collection.Â
Both the collection and campaign use monotone black and white colors, but if you look closely you'll see that there are subtle flame and flower prints on some of the pieces. Onitsuka Tiger's autumn/winter 2022 collection will be available starting August. Take a look below.
