Shoe Porn: 9 Bespoke Shoes from Ermenegildo Zegna

Because they are made to your feet’s measure, taking into consideration all their nuances, whether they are extra wide or one is slightly longer than the other, and created to your liking, from materials to colors to all the tiny details that make what you wear down there unique to you, bespoke shoes are the epitome of quality, comfort, and luxury.

These very special shoes are worth every penny (many, many pennies) and even a trip to somewhere faraway like, say, London, where at Ermenegildo Zegna’s refurbished global store on New Bond Street its new collection of bespoke shoes is now available.

For seekers of high style, Zegna’s artistic director Alessandro Sartori created a range of nine models, all of which sings with character because they were inspired by Sartori’s close friends.

And because these gang of men come from different fields of work, the bespoke creations are varied, from “David,” the double-monk whose twin straps sweep at an angle (inspired by a French-born dancer and choreographer), to the “Zach,” a jodhpur boot that can be dressed up or down (created for a professional bike racer), to the “Timothy,” a lace-less gusset shoe (made for a Parisian chef).

These things of beauty, handcrafted by Gaziano & Girling for Zegna, take over six months to complete, starting from a by-appointment meeting between you and the shoe masters. From there, the craftsmen will do all the wizardy required (lasting to stitching to welting and everything in between) to perfect a pair of shoes that will not only look handsome, but will also speak of your story.
