Zion Williamson Just Signed With Jordan Brand

As anyone remotely interested in basketball knows, Zion Williamson is the future of the NBA. The former Duke star was the first round draft pick this year and is often compared to a young LeBron James. He also made headlines in the sneaker world earlier this year when he dramatically blew out a sneaker in the middle of a game. After the sneaker incident, fans had been speculating about who Williamson would pair up with on sneakers. Well, the time for speculation is over: Today, Williamson and Jordan Brand announced their official partnership. 

"I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of the Jordan Brand family," Williamson said in a statement. "Since I was a kid, I dreamed of making it to the league and having the type of impact on the game Michael Jordan had and continues to have today. He was one of those special athletes I looked up to, and I really can't express how happy and excited I am for this journey." 

It is pretty fun to watch a legend in the making, too. There's no doubt Williamson will bring with him an intrinsic knowledge of the social media, hype, and culture that surrounds basketball shoes nowadays. Plus, given his penchant for testing the limits of how much athleticism a shoe can handle, he'll surely have a lot to say on the function front, too. 

The endorsement announcement didn't come with any specifics in terms of his contract amount or length of time. But it's bound to be big—even Michael Jordan, His Airness himself, weighed in on the partnership. 

"Zion's incredible determination, character, and play are inspiring," Jordan said in a statement. "He's an essential part of the new talent that will help lead the brand into the future. He told us he would 'shock the world,' and asked us to believe him. We do."
