Loewe, the Brand Beloved by Spanish Royals, Opens a Store in Manila

Nothing compares to superior quality and craftsmanship, something the world’s oldest luxury brands know all too well. For Loewe, it all began in Spain over two centuries ago, in 1846 to be precise, when a group of craftsmen decided to make fashion accessories out of the country’s prized leather.
The Loewe handbag became a symbol of elegance and refinement soon after, and the fashion house was given the title of Supplier to the Royal Court by King Alfonso XIII of Spain. Through the years, Loewe has remained a favorite of the queens of the Spanish royal family. Queen Victoria Eugenie, Queen Sofia, and Queen Letizia have all been photographed carrying different Loewe styles.

Known for its mix of relaxed and understated luxury, Loewe has created a number of iconic styles, namely the Amazona and Flamenco. Outside of its native country, however, it kept a relatively low profile. It was only until LVMH hired Jonathan Anderson as creative director in 2013 that the luxury house became a favorite of the fashion set. Under Anderson’s vision, it has taken on a more effortlessly cool style especially with the introduction of the Puzzle, Hammock, and Gate bags.

When Anderson took the helm, he sought to reintroduce styles from the brand’s archives while remodeling stores based on how they were in the ‘60s. A continuation of the concept is CASA LOEWE, a design inspired by the ambiance of a stately home which the Manila store will fully embody.
