Angkas May Now Deny You a Ride If You’re Too Heavy

Popular ride-hailing app Angkas is known for its witty and sometimes provocative posts on social media, opting for a less formal approach to engaging the public. It has a characteristic candor that has made it a darling of social media, drawing support from thousands of people. But it might lose some of that support, particularly from its heavier passengers.

Angkas recently updated its app to add several safety features and improvements, among which is the weight safety check, which requires you to specify your weight range upon registration. The check is included in the government guidelines on motorcycle safety.
Two-wheeled vehicles operate on the physics of balance and weight distribution. For motorcycles, among the things to consider when riding is the size of the bike, the weight of the rider, and in the case of Angkas, the weight of the passenger. A bike becomes more difficult to control if the passenger and the rider displace the bike’s center of gravity.
Angkas is a convenient mode of transportation, but as with everything that concerns ferrying passengers, safety is a top priority.
