The next James Bond movie, known as Bond 25, is slated for release next year and filming is scheduled to begin in April. Rumors have swirled about the cast, the production problems, the plot, and the location. (So much drama so far!) Actual details—in addition to more rumors—are beginning to trickle out about the movie. Here’s what we know so far.

What’s the name of the movie?

Eon Productions, which makes the Bond films, has not confirmed the title yet. However, a report in the industry publication Production Weekly said the film’s working title is Shatterhand. For nearly two years, rumors have suggested that Daniel Craig's final 007 film would be titled Shatterhand—named after the alias of Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld from Ian Fleming’s 1964 novel You Only Live Twice.

Blofeld has appeared in eight Bond films in various ways, but most famously portrayed in Sean Connery's You Only Live Twice (that's where the Dr. Evil-type villain depiction came from). In that film, Blofeld was the head of Spectre, which was working to provoke war between superpowers. Recently, Christoph Waltz's character in Spectre is revealed to be Blofeld. At the end of that film, MI6 arrests Blofeld.

What this could mean is, with the working title Shatterhand, we'll once again see Bond squaring off against Blofeld, who at the end of Spectre had his face damaged in the manner we've come to know it.

Of course, this is all speculation—especially considering working titles are often just placeholders to protect the film's actual title. For example, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi was famously produced under the working title Blue Harvest. Plus, an autograph hunter in London claimed to have gotten Bond producer Barbara Broccoli to sign a peace of paper with Shatterhand on it. With her signature, Broccoli drew an arrow pointing to the title with the phrase: “It’s not.”

Who’s directing Bond 25?

What are the production problems?

After abruptly losing its director, Danny Boyle, rumors spread about tension and disagreements among producers, writers, and the director about the script and casting. When Boyle was replaced with Cary Joji Fukunaga producers announced the film would miss its originally scheduled release date of November 9, 2019. At that time, Bond 25 was scheduled begin shooting in March 2019 for a worldwide release date of February 14, 2020.

Who’s in the cast?

Well, Daniel Craig is playing Bond. Ben Whishaw is returning as Q, according to the Bond fan site, MI6. Rami Malek is reportedly being considered as the villain. Lupita Nyong’o was rumored to be in the running as the next Bond girl, but has reportedly backed out of the casting process. Christoph Waltz was reportedly not set to return while Danny Boyle was directing but Joji Fukunaga has apparently said he hasn't ruled out Waltz's return.

Where is filming taking place?

According to Variety, the Italian town of Matera, home to just 60,000 people, is where the prolonged action sequence to start Bond 25 will shoot. Filming is expected to begin there in July, Variety reported.

Filming is also going to take place in a forest outside Oslo, Norway, according to the Agence France-Presse news agency, which captured photos of workers building a house on the location.
