Did Anyone Else Watch That Painful Jo Koy Monologue At the Golden Globes?
It's accolades season in Hollywood again and we all know what that means: comedians hosting awards shows. These hosting gigs have always been a hit-and-miss. Some rise to the occasion. Others, well, may have an "off night."
Jo Koy took on the reigns for the 2024 Golden Globes after Jerrod Carmichael did so last year. The Filipino-American comedian has been putting Filipinos on the map in Tinseltown for years now and while we're all grateful for that, it appears that on this evening, he's not exactly having his best moment.
Unfortunately, his monologue was the stuff of nightmares (perhaps it's just the secondhand embarrassment talking here). We're not going to sit around and say we loved it. From hitting his writers to Barbie boob jokes and a Taylor Swift jab, Jo Koy was all over the place on this one. Talks of a bombing like this haven't happened since Oppenheimer (okay, we got jokes, too). He can take solace in the fact that it wasn't all bad though. At least Meryl Streep did the Wakanda Forever sign for him.
Of course, the internet reacted appropriately, as it always does.
