Kim Atienza Gives Emotional Farewell to ABS-CBN
Kim Atienza's voice was full of emotion and rasping when she formally said goodbye to TV Patrol this Friday night, October 1
Better known as Kuya Kim, he spent 17 years as a resident host of ABS-CBN's daily newscast.
It was not easy for Kuya Kim to make the decision to leave ABS-CBN, which he considered his “second home”.
After his weather and trivia segment, Kuya Kim was given the opportunity to give a farewell message.
He individually thanked his mentors and co-workers who helped him improve his career.
“Unang-una ang aking boss sa ABS-CBN, Ging Reyes, inalagaan at tinulungan mo akong maging mas mabuting Kuya Kim dito sa TV Patrol.
"Ang aking mentor sa entertainment at aming chief operating officer of broadcast na si Cory Vidanes. Salamat sa tiwala sa aking kakayanan at sa oportunidad na ibinigay niyo sa akin sa It's Showtime.”
"Hanggang sa muli, Kapamilya. Salamat po.”
"Ang aking kaibigan at aming president na si Carlo Katigbak, na patuloy na nagpapakita ng malasakit at inspirasyon."
Carlo Katigbak is the current president and CEO of ABS-CBN.
Atienza also mentioned his TV Patrol colleagues Noli "Kabayan" de Castro, Bernadette Sembrano, Henry Omaga-Diaz, Gretchen Fullido, and broadcasters Karen Davila and Julius Babao.
He also did not forget Amy Perez, who was with him on the radio show Sakto.
He mentioned some more of the programs he watched such as Magandang Umaga Bayan; Good Morning, Philippines; and Umagang Kay Ganda.
He is also proud of the educational show he hosted, Matanglawin, which won 200 awards over the many years it has been aired.

Atienza also thanked his late predecessor, weatherman Ernie Baron.
"Salamat, Ka Ernie Baron, dahil ipinagkatiwala mo sa akin ang isang malaking responsibilidad.
"Higit sa lahat, salamat sa inyo mga Kapamilya sa pagsubaybay at pagsuporta.
"Si Kuya kim ay di magiging Kuya Kim kung di po dahil sa inyo."
"Sa paglisan ko sa istasyon na ito, na itinuring kong second home, kailanman ay hindi ako makakalimot.
"Mananatali sa puso ko at babaunin ang lahat ng mga natutunan at naranasan ko sa ABS-CBN sa loob ng labimpitong taon.
"Natutunan ko na gaano man karami at katindi ang mga bagyong dumadaan, mahalagang manatiling buhay ang pag-asa, pananampalataya sa Diyos, at pagmamahal ng Kapamilya.
"Sa ngayon, nais ko sabihin, for the last time, ang buhay ay weather-weather lang."
