Are You Ready For the One More Chance Musical?

"T*ngina naman, Bash! Ganyan ka ba katigas?!"

When One More Chance came out in 2007, it sort of crystallized a lot of the dating tropes we see today. College sweethearts always find a way back together. Breakups mean friends, too. The three-month rule was something to be honored. "Sana ako na lang ulit." "T*ngina naman, Bash! Ganyan ka ba katigas?!"

The cultural cachet, right?

Well, now the film goes from the screen to the stage as the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) announces its musical adaptation of Popoy and Basha's love story.

Among the cast members for the highly anticipated run include Sam Concepcion and CJ Navato, who each will get to play Popoy. Anna Luna and Nicole Omillo, on the other hand, will be switching for the character of Basha throughout the shows. Adding to the decent lineup are Kiara Takahashi and Sheena Belarmina, who will be playing Tricia, as well as Jeff Florez and Jay Gonzaga, doing their best Mark interpretation.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, One More Chance produced some of the most memorable scenes in recent mainstream Filipino cinema. It showcased the dynamic between college sweethearts on the verge of separation. Cruz and Alonzo had some pretty damn good performances for this one. At the time, it grossed over P152 million in the Filipino box office. Its sequel, A Second Chance, would be released in 2015 to generally favorable reviews.

Earlier, PETA made it known that it would be adapting Filipino classics into musicals following the success of Rak of Aegis, Three Stars and a Sun, and Walang Aray. One More Chance joins a pretty exclusive list.

The shows will run from April 12 to June 16 at the PETA Theater Center. Tickets and time slots will be released soon.
